Improving Health Get Outdoors

People have their own reasons why they choose to pursue improving health and a healthier lifestyle. Maybe they are hoping to lose that bit of extra weight, or maybe they have an underlying health problem that has necessitated the need for cleaner living. The benefits of a better way of living and eating are well documented, for example, choosing a healthy lifestyle and improving health will raise your energy levels, help your digestive system, your immune system and cognitive health to name but a few.

Vitamin D and Water to Improve Health

The introduction of the body to Vitamin D is also an extremely beneficial aspect of outdoor activities. The main way vitamin D is introduced to the human body is through the skin via the ultraviolet rays emitted from the Sun. Vitamin D has many important functions, one of which is maintaining healthy and strong bones, which is something that it does in combination with calcium. There are also compelling studies linking vitamin D with reducing the risk of the onset of certain cancers. The study is compiled from a selection of previously published material and it includes a blunt conclusion from the researchers at the University of California, who have criticized medical communities and public health authorities for not adopting the use of vitamin D as a preventative measure earlier.

Drinking plenty of water is also very important for improving health. For optimum health benefits, it is recommended that a person should consume 6 to 8 large glasses of water daily. The benefits of water are plenty, for example, headaches and migraines are often caused by dehydration. Water also helps to regulate temperature, flush toxins from the body, help with digestion and is also connected to blood-flow and blood pressure, making it particularly important for the heart.

Choose the right foods

A rich variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, along with lean meats, poultry and fish in the diet, is highly beneficial for those who wish to benefit from a healthy lifestyle. Choosing fruit or berries that are high in antioxidants will strengthen the immune system and improve overall health. Try to avoid foods that are high in saturated fats and in general ensure that no more than 30 percent of the calorific content of the daily diet should be fat. Be aware of chemicals and stimulants in food and drink, such as caffeine, and be sure not to consume foods containing large amounts of sodium (salt).
